Hedge laying activities create large amounts of brash – for Hermitage Field Community Meadow the recent hedge laying resulted in 130 metres of it!
We would like to thank the three-man team from Lancaster City Council who cleared up the huge amount of brash left over from the hedge laying. They worked in terrible weather conditions chipping brash which otherwise would have created a real problem for us to clear.
Some of the hedge cuttings were used to repair a dead hedge but most was chipped up and will be used locally as a mulch around trees.
Thank you to Mike Sharples, Public Realm Team Leader at Lancaster City Council, who facilitated this for the charity.
