Wildflower plugs in LCC glasshouse

Going for Growth

The 2023 growing season has got off to a great start. Lancaster City Council have given us the use of a glasshouse at their White Lund Depot (in addition to the poly tunnels we’ve used for the last two years) and we’ve been hard at work sowing locally-collected wildflower seed and growing on the young plants.

In addition to growing for Hermitage Field Community Meadow, we’re also growing plants for several pollinator sites which are part of Lancaster City Council’s Grassland Strategy, and for Miss Whalley’s Field in Lancaster.

As ever, we’re very grateful to our volunteers for all their hard work and commitment. We’d also like to extend a big ‘Thank You’ to Kath Hawarth of Lancaster City Council who helps keep our plants well watered when we’re not there.

Many thanks to Lancaster City Council and the Forest of Bowland Hay Time project which has funded the project for the 2023 season.
