Members of the North Lancashire Wildlife Group visiting Hermitage Field in the rain.

Visit By local Wildlife Group

We recently welcomed the volunteer-run North Lancashire Wildlife group (NLWG) for an introduction to Hermitage Field Community Meadow, the ‘knapweed triangle’ and the floodplain meadow at the Crook O’ Lune.

NLWG are based in the Lancaster district and serve North Lancashire, North Yorkshire and South Cumbria. NLWG organises winter talks, summer field outings, identification workshops and facilitates species recording in the area.

They also produce an excellent yearly wildlife magazine.

We had an afternoon of mixed weather but this did not deter any members of the group who soon set to work collecting insects and plants. We were delighted to see some members exploring the meadow the next day!

We will be welcoming some members of the group to the BioBlitz on Hermitage Field Community Meadow on 7th July 2024, 1-4pm. This is a free event open to members of the public too.
