Abbeystead youth group

Abbeystead youth group joined us on a chilly November morning for the final plug planting of the season.  This organised and experienced young team planted 170 wild flowers into the meadow, and had a bit of fun seed bombing with some locally harvested seed.
Working as a team they built a fabulous ‘dead hedge” to provide  winter hibernation spots for invertebrates and small mammals on the buffer zone of the meadow.  We look forward to seeing what thrives in this excellent habitat.
Thank you to the whole team and their leaders, it was a really well organised and well planned event.  Thank you to Lancashire County Council Countryside Ranger Services team and Life for a Life Memorial Forests for support.
This activity was sponsored by Areti Charitable Trust with grateful thanks.
