Nelson Ladies Visit

We were delighted to welcome a wonderful group of ladies from Nelson in Lancashire to the meadow as part of the Forest of Bowland Connecting People with Nature project.

This project, funded by the Heritage Lottery and The Ernest Cook Trust, focuses on bringing people from cities into the countryside. The ladies were inspired by the breathtaking views over the Lune valley to Ingleborough and the lush meadow.

It was an educational visit to introduce them to meadows, meadow making, caring for the countryside and looking at the wildlife which lives in meadows. They joined us in plug planting to enhance the meadow further and had a walk through the meadow and woodland to the Halton Lune Hydro project. It was a fun-filled visit and we sincerely hope to welcome them back to the meadow again next year.

Thank you to Deborah Woods, Forest of Bowland Community Engagement Officer, for organising this visit and to our volunteers for growing the plug plants.
