Managing the Meadow with BSI

Over the summer we were delighted to receive a request from the British Standards Institution (BSI) in Lancaster asking if some of their workforce could donate a volunteering work day to the charity… and the answer was yes!

The team were kept busy raking hay, clearing Himalayan Balsam, digging docks, collecting seed, planting plug plants into the meadow and potting up about 200 wildflower plugs for us to grow on.

We also managed to fit in a walk, lunch and coffee and biscuits. A very enjoyable day with lots of chat about the work we do, meadows, foraging, managing the meadow and the history of this very special area.

Thank you Helen, Edwin, Rob, Gulam and Chris – and especially to Helen Bennett for organising the day. We look forward to seeing you all enjoying the meadow and the fruits of your labour next year.
