More meadow seed

We were looking around for local meadow seed to restore Hermitage Field Community Meadow and both Claire Cornish one of our Trustees ( and meadow adviser for Cumbria Wildlife Trust) and Carol Edmondson (Meadow adviser, Forest of Bowland AONB and Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust) suggested brush harvesting some of the Community Meadow on the Life for a Life Memorial Woodland site at the Crook O’ Lune.  This lovely meadow was originally restored in 2014 using seed from Bell Sykes Coronation Meadow with additional rattle from Marianne and Andrew Van Tucker’s meadow in Bentham.  In addition volunteers added home grown wild flower plug plants grown from sustainably gathered local seed.  Peter Blackwell brush carefully harvested about 7kg of seed from the meadow and this was dried and added directly to Hermitage Field Community Meadow.  This brush harvesting project was funded directly by Plantlife’s The Green Recovery Challenge.
